In 2017, Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, which killed 2,900 people, permanently closed hundreds of schools, and left thousands of children with nowhere safe to go. The areas of Bayamòn, Utuado, and Toa Baja were some of the hardest hit and suffered the most profound damage. Through collaborative efforts, Yours Humanly was able to identify three highly underserved schools in desperate need in these areas, which are still suffering the effects of the catastrophic hurricane and which are still in recovery two years after the disaster. With generous donations from our supporters who care about the lives of others, we provided grants totaling $20,000 directly to the schools, improving the lives and futures of thousands of children in these impoverished areas.
