We completed our two-year Family Literacy Night project, made possible by a generous grant from the City of Concord, California, and benefiting more than 4,000 students in ten Concord elementary schools served by Mt. Diablo Unified School District. We held twenty festive on-campus Family Literacy nights designed to promote reading, boost literacy skills, and foster a love of books among students. Supported by our Coloring Futures initiative, the project featured more than 19,600 English-language and bilingual book giveaways; literacy-themed games and activities; author readings; library card sign-ups; and light dinners for students and their families.
