Yours Humanly provided multiple sets of newly built, bright blue desks and benches for classrooms in an impoverished community school in Nepal’s Dang district, home to 200+ students from kindergarten to Grade 10. The furniture was custom ordered with a sturdy design for classroom use from a factory in Kathmandu, then shipped and delivered by truck. While we were unable to provide new desks for every single student and teacher, the desks we did provide are already facilitating a better learning environment for those who attend and teach at the school. Each desk and bench set can comfortably seat four students—even five if they are younger—and come with storage space for books and stationery.
This project was made possible through our Bridging Gaps initiative, which allows us to respond to a need where there are no available resources. The physical state of classrooms and schools deeply affects student comfort, engagement, and ability to focus and learn.
