This event \u00a0was one of several we plan to\u00a0hold during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years in ten Concord (CA) elementary schools served by Mt. Diablo Unified School District.<\/p>\n<p>Sun Terrace used the\u00a0<em>One School, One Book<\/em>\u00a0approach,\u00a0a program designed to create a shared reading experience within a single elementary school community, selecting\u00a0<em>Giraffes Can\u2019t Dance<\/em>\u00a0(Giles Andreae) for TK\u20133, and\u00a0<em>Blended<\/em>\u00a0(Sharon M. Draper) for 4-5. We\u00a0purchased 970 English-language and Spanish-language books, one for each student to take home and keep as their own, to read alone and with parents, and to share with siblings and friends.\u00a0After dinner, which we provided, and an energetic welcome by Principal Eric Wood, we distributed books to eager students. Then it was on to arts and crafts activities.<\/p>\n<p>The high impact Yours Humanly Family Literacy Night Project, which will benefit more than 4,000\u00a0students during the\u00a02023-2024 and 2024-2025\u00a0school years, is made possible through\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dehradunjunction.com\/ngo\/what-we-do\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Coloring Futures<\/a> initiative and by a generous $213,000 grant from the City of Concord.
